Friday, August 13, 2010 - Kazantip

We are here walking up beach to quiet spot for hand cut-aways an b-roll : Were headed back to the beach with massive object. I am now clothed for the first time in about 2 hours.

Amazing locations acquired, the video begins - EXCITED!! Director and film crew have arrived from Holland. It begins!

Driving to the desert. About to begin filming. Racing the sun. Just filmed at a salt lake adjacent to the Black Sea. Incredible. Short break for food & back in it. It's 103 degrees at 9am and I'm in long sleeves.

Back in the streets of Kazantip, more vocal coverage. The Emergency video is in full swing. Were about to move a 1200lb object to the beach. True story. Apparently sixteen people required.

Amazing sunset shots in the sea. Used a camera bag and it looks insane. Just ate dinner and took a 15 minute disco-nap on a bench and we are back in it.

Few hours later, at the airport in Ukraine wiped out. Wow we've worked hard. What an adventure.

Saturday, August 14, 2010 - Istanbul then Amsterdam

Here's a random page from my 14th passport :

We've actually Just flown the Turkish equivalent of South West. I'll leave that to your imagination. Hello Istanbul! Made it to the first hotel. Grateful to be laying down.

Watching 'Invictus' and getting ready for dinner and a bath :) I am honored to be on the same ball of dirt you are. Thank you. Dear Nelson Mandella, the world owes you a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. Your example is a glowing ember of light in darkness. Tonight I leave you with this. Goodnight.

Sunday, August 15, 2010 - Amsterdam: Olive you

I am walking the streets of one o my favorite cities on earth. Amsterdam. A couple just rode by on bikes holding hands. That kinda says it all Standing outside the Tatiana De La Fuente Art Gallery looking at amazing paintings. This is one : This is the first place my daughter ate both olives and cherry tomatoes. She brings it up a lot and now loves both :) Walking the streets in the rain. Feeling deeply grateful. This place is magnificent :

I'm going to do something I've never done. Share my three favorite places to eat on Earth. I am now in one of them. Castle Barbecue in Letizia Plein. The other two are Sotto Sotto in Toronto and my favorite Nozawa in Los Angeles. When you come to Holland, this is some of the best food EVER. OMG forgot one of my fav fav's @bluebottlemint in San Francisco. Make that top 4! Their polenta with warm maple syrup is insane and best coffee ever.

Monday, August 16, 2010 - EPIC walk in Amsterdam

About to go for an #EPIC walk in Amsterdam. Could this city be more beautiful : This glorious city. Walking, pigeons, people and a seething glorious mass of humanity. I am happy. Laying under a beautiful tree in the shadow of this cathedral. Taking it all in : "I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains." - Anne Frank (May you rest in peace) This city is breathtakingly vibrant and alive :

I am without words. I just walked silently through the Anne Frank house. Awareness and compassion the only remedy to the worlds suffering."I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains." - Anne Frank (May you rest in peace)

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - Sweet dreams in Amsterdam, train to Paris?

Omg, Just found Freud, Beethoven, Jesus and Oscar Wild action figures. Really. Along the canal this kind of bird, each seem to pick a boat. They're beautiful : A quiet, peaceful night here. Contemplating getting up early & riding the train to Paris. Sweet dreams Amsterdam :

It's a beautiful rainy early evening. Just planned the entire box set with @arnyblackhole FTW. Here's a homemade instrument street jam. These guys are playing off an edging car battery. Wow!

Wednesday, August 18, 2010 - Hope and Inspiration

“Thinking is more interesting than knowing, but less interesting than looking”-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe The beauty of a sunny day in Vondel Park : A view from the windows of the VanGogh museum. These works inspire me like those of the greatest composers. Inspired : Hope more. Then make it action. Almost crashed my bike taking this last picture of the day. This church was momentarily (like 30 seconds) basked in orange light. Beautiful

Tomorrow France, today the VanGogh museum. I am just a "climb the mountain without crampons and talc" kinda guy. I think more clearly this way and my though process is not diverted

Thursday, August 19, 2010 - Bike Taken: Pictures from a 3 hour bike tour.

At the gym, just found a great illustration of how beautifully asymmetrical the architecture here. Check the trapezoidal windows! New adventure part 1. Last night I parked my bike here. Wait free concert today and no bike. Hmmmm New Adventure part II. Now here after 40 min car ride. There are windmills. Really. Where Dutch bikes go to die : The Adventure Part III : The Adventure Part IV: The Adventure Part V: The Adventure Part VI: The Adventure Part VII: The Adventure Part VIII: and now on the train to Amsterdam Central #EPIC #WIN Just got off the phone about the biggest news ever. A peaceful early morning train to Ghent : “I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.”-Dalai Lama The Antiwerpen train station. Beautiful here : Now boarding to Ghent. Excited to perform in a old and weathered 200 yr old apartment today : Ladies and gentlemen...Ghent. Wow. May have seen a ghost here. Turned around saw a streak of light pass the doorway. Hair standing on end. Doing EVP's in attic: The camera I'm staring at right now. Performing at 140% true speed = Hard! This building was owned by a very wealthy importer in the 16th century. Were eating lunch outside now : And we are back on the set. Cannon 5D Mark II w/insane optics 30fps with lots of beautiful natural volumetric light : And that friends is The Emergency video wrap! And this is Castle Gravenstein : Sitting on the ground here. Missed the train #alllkindsofEPIC Belgian adventure : Watching a stunning sunset on the train from Belgium to Holland. Quiet gratitude. Today was amazing :

The 200 year old apartment used to film 'The Emergency' was built in 1562. May have seen a ghost here.
